About

Dwen (Duan) Chuan, or Short Hit (Range) Boxing, is centuries. The Mianzhang style of short fighting and boxing was recorded in Tang Shunzhi’s “On Martial Arts,” Qi Jiguang’s “A New Essay on Wushu Arts,” and He Liangchen’s “Chronicles of Chen,” all of which are more than 400 years old. The major features of Dwen (Duan) Chuan are its short and compact routines which usually consist of 3 to 5 steps and and dozen moves, and its use of low stances and small but quick movements. It is very popluar in Baoding and Gaoyang of Hebei province.

This form is called Northern Shaolin Chuan Fighting In Close Quarters Boxing/Short Hit Boxing/Duan Da Quan/Tuan Ta Quan is an intermediate level form. It is used to connect the basic forms with the advanced Hua Quan forms. This form is broken down into 6 lines or roads Each line is broken down movement by movement. Then each line is demonstrated in a continuous flow. The features of this form allow for walking, hitting the feet with the palm, and jumping in the air.
