 24 Movement Short Form

Tai Chi ChuanJian Hua Tai Ji Quan

The Yang 24 Movement Short Form was created in 1956.  In an effort to make Tai Chi more popular because of the health benefits and easier to execute, a group of Tai Chi masters gathered to assemble a series of movements for all to do.  Though this form is primarily designed to promote general health, it still has self defense applications.  The movements are still based on the martial aspect which gives the movements their meaning and purpose.

This form has 24 movements from start to finish and take about 5-7 minutes to perform.   The form, when performed, should be done as one entire movement, not separate movements.  This does take time to make flow smoothly like you see on tv or in some class.  Be persistent, a little practice everyday goes a long way, and remember to have some fun!

The video is:

  • Broken the form down into smaller sections of movements

  • Each section is broken into separate movements

  • Each movement is broken down verbally and step by step.

Take each movement one at a time, practice all that is there until you can perform the movement without the video, then add the next movement.

We have broken the 24 Movement Short Form down into 4 Sections.  Each Section will contain the individual movements for that section.  Start at Section 1 and finish at Section 4.
